This past Sunday the East Kent Crusaders Mens EBL team hosted a basketball day camp in conjunction with the Thanet Rhinos. Nearly 40 players from all over east kent attended the camp, with some gret performances from Rhinos players throughout the day. David Brown was the winner of the Junior 1 on 1 competition and Calum Smee came out with 3 awards; for the Senior 1 on 1 competition, the 3 on 3 competition and the highest honour, the Heart and Hustle award for the day. Sport 4 NRG, a youth inclusion program which works closely with the Thanet Rhinos this weekend arranged a basketball trip to watch the EBL national league game between the East Kent Crusaders and the London Towers. A coach full of young people who take part in the sessions run by sport 4 NRG and Thanet Rhinos on Wednesday nights were treated to a great game between the bitter rivals which saw East Kent sail to a huge victory. The Second Thanet Rhinos Sponsored Dribble is planned to take place on the weekend of January 29th 2006. The rhinos aim to raise as much money as possible for the club to buy new and much needed equipment. The players from the Rhinos squads will be dribbling from the Ramsgate Sports Centre to Westwood Cross. James Gregory, Emerald Scannel and Darren Wiltshire all passed thier level one
coaching courses this week in Rainham. Head coach Nick Reed said "its great to see more people in the community getting qualified as coaches. It only makes our club and the spot in our region stonger. Darren and Emerald will be around at training sessions throughout the year.
